In the past, Cumberland Electric
Membership Corporation found it
increasingly difficult to have its
protective equipment tested. Some of the
problems we contended with were poor
testing practices, slow turn-around from
test facilities, replacement of failed
items, and overall customer service.
In 2006, CEMC purchased new,
state-of-the-art testing equipment in
order to solve our problems with
protective equipment testing. We felt
that other companies in this area may
have experienced the same difficulties
with the testing process that we once
had. So, in 2007, we began providing
testing services for other companies,
too.
Everyone working in our lab has a
background in electrical work and was
already familiar with the equipment that
we test. We pride ourselves in testing
your goods with the utmost integrity and
professionalism. We also strive to
eliminate any of your prior testing
problems by providing fast turn-around
times, installing new replacement items
in the event of a failure, warehousing
spares for real-time spare replacements,
and un-rivaled customer service.
Why Test?
Testing your protective equipment
not only keeps your company in
compliance with OSHA, ASTM, & ANSI
standards, it also assures your
employees that they are working with
tools and equipment that they can depend
on when their lives are on the line.
All testing at CEMC is performed
in compliance with ASTM, ANSI, and OSHA
Standard 1910.137—Electrical Protective
Equipment.
CEMC Test Lab is a member of ASTM
International, the American Society for
Testing and Materials. This places us at
the forefront of standard discussion and
development.
Tracking and
Record-keeping
We have recently implemented a
barcode labeling and tracking system for
our testing processes. This, along with
the related software, allows us to
provide and maintain detailed test
reports along with a history for each
item. This system also creates a
schedule for each customer based on
their specific testing cycle.
The greatest benefit we have found
is the label that the software prints,
which is attached to the heat-sealed bag
of gloves/sleeves. This label has all
relative information, i.e., Name, Item,
Size, Test Date, etc.
