Energy Right Program

Dear Sir or Madam:

The energy right® New Homes program is a joint endeavor between the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and it’s power distributors, designed to help the homeowner achieve an ideal balance between economy and comfort. The following is a list of requirements to qualify your home under the program:

1) must be an all-electric home built in the CEMC service area. (Gas logs are acceptable as long as they are not a primary source of heat)

2) You must submit a set of floor plans of the home to be rated by the Home Energy Rating Software (HERs). This software takes into account such factors as your square footage, the square footage of glass, the R-value of insulation you will be installing, etc… With all of these items taken into consideration, your home must score at least an 83 in order to qualify. It is imperative that the Builder Application and a set of floor plans be submitted as soon as possible in the planning stages of construction. Should your home not be able to meet the minimum score of 83, we will try to provide you with building suggestions which could increase the energy efficiency of your home and subsequently, the HERs rating.

3) You must return a completed Builders Application

4) The heat pump unit(s) must be installed by a QCN member. (A listing of local contractors is enclosed)

5) you or your contractor will need to arrange for a final inspection of the home once it’s been completed

The incentive payments are as follows:
Single Family Home greater than 1,500 square feet $500
Single Family Home less than 1,500 square feet $200
     Multi-Family Home $100

If you have any questions concerning this program, please feel free to give me a call at (931) 645-2481. I look forward to working with you.
